Steal From The Rich! Speed Guide — Treadmill Training Explained

How Speed works in Steal From The Rich!: why the treadmill matters, how to upgrade it, and how Speed turns into faster, safer crate hauls.

How does Speed work in Steal From The Rich!?

Speed is the stat you train on your treadmill, and it decides how fast you move. The official description makes it a core pillar: “Train on the treadmill to gain Speed.” Faster movement helps twice — you fit more steal-and-haul trips into every minute, and you escape guardians like the lava monster while carrying a crate. The developer has not published the exact Speed formula, so treat specific numbers elsewhere as unverified.

Why is the treadmill the best early upgrade?

Because Speed compounds into everything else. More Speed means more crate trips per hour, which means more money for your base, your treadmill’s next level, and deeper areas. Early on, income is the bottleneck; Speed raises that ceiling directly. The official loop even pairs them — “Upgrade your treadmill and base” — because the treadmill’s level gates the Speed you can train.

How do you train on the treadmill?

Buy or upgrade your treadmill, then step on and train. The treadmill lives at your base as part of the equipment you upgrade with stolen loot. Stand on it, start training, and your Speed grows with the session. The two-part rhythm — steal to earn, train to convert — is the whole early game. If you are deciding between a base decoration and a treadmill level early on, the treadmill wins every time until your trips feel slow.

How much should you invest in Speed vs your base?

Early: Speed first. Mid-game: alternate. The honest priority order for new players:

  1. Treadmill levels — they gate how much Speed you can gain.
  2. Training time — cheap and always available.
  3. Base upgrades — your income and the treasure display the game is built around.

Once hauls feel quick, shift weight toward the base; the base building guide shows the ceiling — official art has players building palace-scale bases with neon crystal displays.

Does Speed help you escape guardians?

Yes — escapes are the whole point of being fast. Official art shows the risks you train for: a lava monster looming over a crate lineup, a T-rex prowling the dig site, vault guards chasing a thief with a safe on his head. When a guardian aggros, the carry home is a race. A higher Speed turns losing situations into clean getaways, which is why experienced players train before pushing into richer areas rather than after losing crates.

What is the fastest way to gain Speed as a beginner?

Short loops: nearby crates, frequent training, no risky detours. A simple first-day routine: steal the closest crates you can escape with, bank them, put early cash into the treadmill, train in short sessions between hauls, and repeat. Skip the far areas until your Speed feels comfortable — dying or dropping a crate costs more than the trip was worth. When nearby crates feel slow, you are ready for the area progression guide.

Does Speed matter in richer areas like the Angelic Area?

More than anywhere else. Richer areas hold greater treasures — and, by the game’s own pattern, bigger guardians and longer carry routes. The Angelic Area, live since the September 29, 2026 update, is exactly the kind of region where under-leveled Speed gets crates dropped. Train first, then chase the new area’s crates; the crate tiers page tells you which targets are worth the trip.
